Beschrijving WIRAS Innovative Switch & Crossing Design

The WIRAS design railway switch is a new fresh innovative solution that has an answer to the many problems that arise with the current railway switches. The basic technical principle of the railway switches currently in use, was invented at a time when two short trains came by every day, with a very low axle load and low driving speeds. (inventor : Charles Fox,  1832 Smethwick, London Works) Rail traffic nowadays makes very intensive use of the current rail network. Many more trains per day, and much higher axle loads at higher driving speeds. Rail traffic occupies a very important place in today's society. A railway switch takes a very important place in the current rail network. A railway switch is also the most vulnerable element in a rail network. That is why it is very strange that it is especially the railway switch that, through many years,  has never been developed into a modern element that meets the highest standards that railway switches nowadays have to meet. The WIRAS design is considered within the railway industry as a radical different and out-of-the-box design that does not fit within the traditional and conservative way of thinking of the railway industry, but that is slowly but surely becoming increasingly recognized, embraced and accepted as a potentential and promising solution for the future. This book shows the technological advantages of the WIRAS railway switch design, and the reasons that have prevented the introduction and implementation of the WIRAS railway switch design in the current rail network for so long.
