On the eve of the World War II's outbreak, Mary and Lee land similar reporting jobs at the New York Tribune and soon become competitors, but when Mary's coverage of a bomb raid over Germany leads to a plane wreck and an adventurous escape attempt from across enemy lines, Lee bravely heads to Europe in an effort to rescue her friend.
