By examining the writings of Irenaeus, one of the first Christian theologians, it shows that for him, what Christians believe matters because beliefs are inseparable from emotions, and both beliefs and emotions dictate one's actions.
The Buddhist Abhidharma literature represents the attempts of early Buddhist thinkers to systematize the discourses of the Buddha to produce a coherent statement of Buddhist thought. This volume argues that their taxonomies and theories of the mind and body can be usefully regarded as analogous to maps for following the Buddhist path to awakening.
Conflicts between religion and equality have been visible in many countries in recent years, including both claims of discrimination by religious groups and against them. This volume brings together leading scholars of law, politics, and philosophy in Europe and North America to discuss important debates on religion and equality.
