Where Are You From is the first monograph to present an extensive overview of Ina van Zyl’s work, spanning the years 1997–2025.

Bringing together paintings of intimate body fragments, still lifes and landscapes, the book reveals Van Zyl’s distinctive visual language, marked by close-ups, sensual surfaces and psychological intensity. Her work explores themes of vulnerability, desire, memory and displacement, rooted in her South African background and life in the Netherlands.

Featuring essays and an interview, this richly illustrated volume offers a compelling insight into an oeuvre that is at once unsettling, poetic and deeply human.
